Virginia Feil Potteryis a small art studio not a manufacture or reseller. Everything we sell is made on site as single, unique, pieces or in small groups of a dozen or so, All items are hand made from stoneware clay. Stoneware is a class of pottery that is fired at higher temperature than earthenware. This yields stronger, more chip resistant pottery than earthenware, and also has lower moisture absorption rates. This provides good weather resistance for our bird feeders and excellent performance for our baking ware.
At the present time our products are sold only on Ebay. We sell only what we make and only when it is complete (sorry but we don't take orders). We will have an online store on this website in the future so please come back and check, or send us your email address and we will let you know when the store is up and running.
Virginia Feil Pottery started out as my wife Virginia's hobby. She did the artistic work and I ran the kiln. She specialized in wheel work, decoration, and hand build. Eventually I began doing much of the extrusion and slab work as well. When I retired we decided to turn her hobby into a business. Unfortunately and unexpectedly, Virginia passed away in August 2008 after an illness. That is why you will see that the product offering is more oriented toward products that utilize extrusion and slab techniques.
